"Ahh, I know you really want to talk to me, but I'm a pretty busy guy, you know. I guess you'll just have to leave a message so I can get back to you later, hm?"
because i already know hokkushin itoryu but i died anyway so it knowing it didn't help so i want to learn a different one so i can defend myself better
[ Heisuke isn't too far behind, though he does bring his swords along (just in case!) and is still a little hopeful that maybe he can convince Souji to change his mind. Or at least not kill him for asking. It's a silly request, but he wants to at least try.
When he finally spots him, Heisuke is all smiles as he trots up alongside him, his usual enthusiasm unable to be dampened for long by disappointment... yet. Let him down easy, Souji. ]
[well, it's not like souji is doing this to be some kind of disappointment for heisuke. he is looking out for his comrade here, but it's a lot easier to have this conversation without having to type—he really just doesn't like using the cerevice much if he doesn't have to.]
So Heisuke-kun wants to learn Tennen Rishin after all this time, is that it?
[ Not gonna skirt around things, huh? Okay then, he can do this. ]
Well, yeah. I mean, I told you, mine didn't exactly help me out at all. It's kinda like everybody who knows it gets to end up dead or something. I mean, Sannan-san used it and he got hurt and ended up taking the ochimizu, and I use it and got killed by a buncha guys in freaky masks.
I'd ask Sano-san or Shinpattsu-san, but Sano-san uses spears and Shinpattsu-san'd probably tell me that only people with muscles like his can use Shinto Munen, and honestly, you're better than both of them, so maybe if you teach me, then... you know.
[ ... then maybe he'll learn to defend himself better than he can with just Hokushin Itto. ]
Is it really the sword style that's to blame here?
[souji's gaze shifts, focusing up at the sky as he asks that question. it's not meant to imply that heisuke or sannan are inadequate on the battlefield; souji doesn't think that in the least.
it's more that he knows that tennen rishin isn't some magical fix for the problem. despite being able to wield his sword, despite having mastered the sword style to attain menkyo at such a young age, it couldn't always save or protect him. he's fallen more than one time, and one of those times was recent enough to still weigh heavily on him.]
Maybe we're getting too soft here. Too much "luxury" making us as soft as the samurai we didn't want to be. [isn't that what kondou would compare it to? samurai who held rank, and even skill, but led cushy lives where they didn't ever have to fight. that's what it feels like sometimes.]
[ Sadly, whatever Souji's intended reasoning was, it's lost on him the moment he asks that question.
Heisuke knows it's probably not the sword style but himself that's to blame, because he's weak and smaller than everybody else. Weak ronin, he can handle with ease, but someone who might have a clue? Not so much. He gets thrown around too easily and the enemies he's faced here have been able to get the drop on him thanks to sheer number. No, it's not the style at all. ]
...I didn't ask to be smaller than everybody else. And it's not my fault I'm not as strong as everybody else, either.
[ Unfortunately, it also means he's not entirely understanding the rest of what Souji says. ]

im probably just really bad luck to be around
it explains a lot
but i guess thats okay even if i dont like it much
[ It's okay, he was there and understood it just as much. He's still kind of at a loss for what happened.
But an idea is forming. Run while you can. ]
how good are you with teaching things
like tennen rishinryu
no subject
just because i don;t like teaching much doesnt mean I don't know how.
[heisuke, what exactly are you up to.... souji's not sure he likes where this is going.]
no subject
okay then
teach me
no subject
Why do you suddenly want to learn a new sword style?
no subject
but i died anyway so it knowing it didn't help
so i want to learn a different one so i can defend myself better

but he's going to have to, isn't he?]
Where are you right now?
no subject

but i could always meet you somewhere if you wanted
o(*゚▽゚*)o

It's just eaiser to talk... using these things is a real pain.
[he's got things he can't convey via text, but souji's legitimately concerned with heisuke's reasoning here.]
no subject
well where do you wanna meet
for talking i mean
[ Took the wind right on out of his sails. ]
no subject
Outside. There's a park nearby, it should be quiet right now.
no subject
okay
i will meet you there then

[it doesn't take long for souji to get down there, since it isn't as if he was really doing anything else of importance anyway.]
